"Symmetry of Raindrops" Open Front Art Coat by Marla Allison
Laguna Pueblo, New Mexico
Marla tells us she started with the luscious teal blue of the silk to inspire her on this piece, and wanted to paint something water related. The result is this quiet yet stunning design made of symmetrical triangular sections at the shoulders, collar and bottom front, and also large panels at each side, that are filled with cascading dashed lines and circular "raindrops" highlighted with metallic gold paint. The effect is that of softly falling raindroplets shimmering through the air, a lovely tribute to a sacred resource in her native arid New Mexico. Champagne gold lining at the cuffs and collar provide a lovely complimentary accent to the flecks of gold in the painting.
What an incredibly elegant look over a column of basic black with simple gold jewelry!
