The geometric mandala on this new piece from Valentin Arrellin may be his boldest yet! Densely patterned lines spiral around a central multi-petaled floral motif, forming myriad, negative space, black "dots" radiating from the center. The lines quickly spread out to form a wide network that crosses the rest of the coat fabric, creating striking visual interest from every angle. Arrellin painstakingly marks out and tapes off each section before applying pigment, and then uses
3-4 coats of paint to get that super saturated, brilliant gold. His love of the "sacred geometry" that infuses nature's forms and designs, really comes across here.

This piece is a real knock out. Imagine yourself in "Dots" making an entrance at a special event. Over basic black it's gorgeous. Over fire engine red with chunky gold jewelry it's incomparable!

Valentin Arrellin's Bio

Zacatecas, Mexico

“I am from Zacatecas, a colonial and mining city in central Mexico. I graduated as a Mining Engineer in 2000 from Zacatecas University and worked on 4 different underground mines for 2 years. After I graduated, I decided I didn’t like mining. I moved to Santa Fe in 2002 and fell in love with its adobe houses, Spanish and Native American culture and its art. All of this inspired me to create and illustrate.”

“Being in engineering school prompted me to fall in love with Geometry. Sacred Geometry caught my attention. It is in everyone, everywhere and everything from the tiniest particle, human bodies, animals, plants, planets, galaxies and the universe itself. My art is based in nature and it’s natural patterns and shapes, from the microcosm to the macrocosm.”

“The study of Sacred Geometry has always been fascinating to me, from both scientific and spiritual points of view. There are times when people who advocate one facet of Sacred Geometry scoff at the people on the other side of the fence. Nonetheless, it cannot be denied that the study of Sacred Geometry, whether for scientific or spiritual purposes, is something that can blow the mind away.”
