Jim Yellowhawk is a renowned artist who paints in the "ledger" style of narrative drawing and painting on paper or cloth that developed among the Plains Native peoples. Ledger art has its roots in traditional animal hide painting and then evolved with the availability of paper and pens from contact with European Americans in the late 1800s.
Yellowhawk has a distinctive lyrical style, combining graceful figures on horseback with bold geometric motifs and airy creatures like dragonflies and butterflies. The effect is powerful yet elegant and dignified. The color of the silk is called "Parchment," a fitting name for the ledger style and looks striking with Yellowhawk's use of black and deep red with spots of turquoise blue.
Wear "Honor Warrior" over all black for a stunning look that celebrates your inner warrior and honors this important Native art tradition.
